Forensic Psychology Work

I would like to ask about forensic psychology. This September I will be going to university to study criminology and psychology. Will this degree help me to also do forensic psychology and allow me to do different types of work in this area with that specific degree?

Also would I need voluntary work to back up my degree? Is there also a good starting point where I could work somewhere, to help show my interests in this particular area?
