Will A Criminal Record Hold Me Back in My Future Career?

Hey, I was convicted of theft under (5000) and am eligible for a pardon in give or take 7 years... I am getting my B.A honours (clearly I'm from Canada) now, and am in my 3rd year. I plan on going to Graduate school, specializing in Forensic Psych.

What I'm wondering is, although I have another 7 or so school years left... will this charge (which will be 8 or so years old) effect my chances of working with the criminally insane or in the prison system?
