Employment Requirements in Colorado

In the state of Colorado, a counselor/therapist working within the state prison system must have at least a Masters degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or similar program with 2 years of experience working as a mental health counselor preferably within the criminal justice system. In order to advance within the department, a counselor must be a licensed professional counselor, a licensed social worker, or a licensed psychologist.
