Mental Illness and Violent Crime

by Robert Mercado

I was attending a class given by a "person" today who stated the following, "Whenever you hear of a cleric being killed it was more than likely done by a 'paranoid schizophrenic.'" This comment created some questions in that my first internal response was one of disagreement.

However, I needed to ask the professionals, therefore, I would ask, of the various personality disorders recorded in the DSM IV TR, from a forensic psychological perspective, who is likely to kill? Who is likely to murder?

Many thanks!

Robert
